The Pittsburgh Public Schools’ innovative Magnet School
Program – a program that enables students to focus their
efforts in an area such as languages, classics, business,
technology or the performing arts, while at the same time
completing a regular academic curriculum – has drawn
particular praise as a model for enhancing student
interest, motivation and performance. One of the magnet
schools was selected by Newsweek Magazine as one of
the top 10 schools for music and dance in the world.
Pittsburgh area school districts also offer a wide variety
of adult education programs, technical and trade
education and special facilities for students who are
physically or mentally challenged.
